About Kaz Sharp

Registered Nurse & Health Writer

I’m Kaz Sharp, a registered nurse and health writer with over 35 years of clinical experience across women’s health, paediatrics, family and public health, midwifery, surgical and breast care, and telephone triage. My work focuses on translating complex medical and health research into clear, evidence-based information that supports informed decision-making across the lifespan.

Clinical experience shaped by real-world health care

Across decades of practice, I’ve worked with women, children, and families in a wide range of healthcare environments — often during periods of vulnerability, uncertainty, and significant life transition.

My clinical background includes:

  • Women’s health and midlife care, including hormonal change, ageing, and long-term wellbeing

  • Paediatrics and family health, supporting parents and caregivers with clear, practical health education

  • Public health–focused roles, where prevention, health literacy, and early intervention were central

  • Australian Defence Force nursing, working with women experiencing early hormonal disruption related to intense training demands

  • Surgical nursing and wound care, with a focus on breast cancer

  • Breast care nursing, supporting women through diagnosis, treatment, and recovery

  • Telephone triage nursing, providing calm, evidence-based guidance and education in time-critical situations

  • Midwifery, with a strong emphasis on informed choice and women-centred care

I have also worked in international healthcare settings, including Saudi Arabia, where exposure to women with extensive reproductive histories offered valuable insight into how culture, parity, and access to care shape long-term health outcomes.

Why I write

Throughout my career, one pattern has remained consistent: people are rarely short on effort — but they are often overwhelmed by conflicting health information.

My writing bridges the gap between clinical evidence, lived experience, and real-world practicality. I aim to support women, families, and health-conscious readers with clear, accurate, and compassionate information that empowers confident decisions without fear or confusion.
